The Product
The Adastra CB40V-B is a black versatile and innovative full range dispersion speaker designed for public address and background music applications where wide coverage is required. It is a dual driver concept featuring two 90mm reinforced cone bass drivers set at a 50° angle combined with a single central 25mm silk dome tweeter. They are housed in a curved ABS enclosure with integral frequency dividing network and 100V line matching transformer. It can be horizontally mounted in corners as an individual unit, mounted mid wall as a pair or suspended from a ceiling in a cluster of four in a pendant style array, and comes supplied with a discrete moulded mounting bracket. It is also possible to mount the CB40VB vertically to suit coverage of raked seating in a theatre or sports environment.
It has a frequency response of 70Hz to 16kHz and can deliver up to 40W rms and can be configured as a low impedance 8Ω speaker, or used in 100V line systems. The integral matching transformer has tappings for 5W, 10W, 20W, 40W for 100V line systems and an 8<Ω low impedance setting. Tappings are selected on a rotary switch which is easily accessed on the front of the speaker behind the removable grille and electrical connection is via a pair of gold plated connectors recessed on the rear panel. Also available in a white finish known as the CB40V-W (stock code 80-0382).
The Manufacturer
Adastra is a long established brand name in sound system component design and manufacturer. It was originally formed in 1949 and the company quickly developed a reputation for delivering reliable quality products.
